Getting creative with stamp brushes

Sketchbook makes it easy to turn any shape into a stamp brush. A stamp brush can help you create repetitive parts of your art - such as leaves on a tree - so that you don't have to draw each one individually.

For a long time you could only create your own brushes in Sketchbook Pro on desktop (Mac and Windows), but this capability is now available on mobile too with the Premium Bundle.

Stamp brushes can be really wonderful for drawing natural backgrounds such as grass, leaves, and snow, and also for things with consistent segments like braids or chains. Adjusting the brush’s randomness and/or rotation properties can help add variety when you want it! For more information on adjusting brush settings to get your desired effect, check out our Help Article on Brush Properties.

We know a lot of you are new to creating your own brushes in Sketchbook, so we’ve created a short video to give you some pointers and get you started:

You can also download free stamp brushes from our Extras page here: https://www.sketchbook.com/extras/tag/stamps

If you have any questions or problems with creating your own brushes or importing our free Extras, reach out to us at support@sketchbook.com and let us know.

We’d also love to hear any suggestions you have for more free extra brushes!
